The kinds of locum tenens work we fill
Locum tenens means standing in for a physician a group does not currently have. In practice that takes a few forms.
Vacancy coverage
A group has lost a physician and needs the schedule covered while it recruits a permanent one.
Leave coverage
A physician is out on parental, medical, or sabbatical leave, and the work has a known end date.
Recurring blocks
A standing commitment, such as one week a month, agreed in advance for several months.
Bridge coverage
Ongoing coverage that runs until a permanent hire starts, sometimes for a year or more.
