Dan Bensimhon founded Moonlighting Solutions in May 2007 after moonlighting his way through residency and fellowship and over six years of developing and managing the on-call coverage program for his current Cardiology practice. After graduating from Duke University with a BA in English Literature, Dan spent the next five years as a national magazine editor for Men’s Health and Men’s Journal magazines and a competitive triathlete/ultramarathoner completing the Hawaiian Ironman at age 24. Dan graduated cum laude and AOA from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed both his Internal Medicine residency and Cardiology fellowship at Duke University Medical Center before joining the faculty in 2004.
Dan joined LeBauer HeartCare in Greensboro, NC in 2005 and currently serves as the co-director of the Heart Failure Clinic at Cone Health, Director of the Cardiopulmonary Exercise Laboratory and President of the LeBauer Cardiovascular Research Foundation. He holds academic appointments at Duke University Medical Center and University of North Carolina-Greensboro. In 1996, Dan authored How to Win at Everything (Bantam 1996) and has since authored or co-authored several book chapters and over 25 papers in peer-reviewed journals.
Dan is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant Cardiology. Among other professional organizations, he is an active member of the Heart Failure Society of America and also MedAxiom. Dan lives in North Carolina with his wife and four children (two sets of twins!).
Carrie Cotter, Chief Operating and Financial Officer at Moonlighting Solutions, LLC, is a focused leader and growth strategist with proven results in exceeding profitability goals, turning around underperforming departments and driving increased revenues and market share. Carrie’s career has provided her with a broad perspective on the challenges of healthcare delivery models and labor optimization. Her analytic and managerial history has given her first-hand experience with a range of healthcare technologies and creative staffing solutions.
Since 2006, Carrie has played a key role in launching and maintaining responsive and efficient programs at several healthcare organizations throughout the nation. For over five years, she led the most rapidly growing service line as President of Psychiatry at Specialist On Call, Inc. At Mission Health and the Mayo Clinic, Carrie served in strategic planning and administrative leadership roles. In her current position at Moonlighting Solutions LLC, the only physician-owned staffing firm in the US serving communities for more than a decade, she engineered a restructure poised to double the company's growth in three years.
Carrie earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics with a concentration in Operations Management from the University of Arizona. She then received her Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Phoenix, in conjunction with a Quality Fellows certification from the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine.
Carrie is an active volunteer, educator, and sought-out speaker. When she is not working or volunteering, Carrie enjoys camping and fishing with her husband, Kris, and her son, Peyton
Heather Davis joined Moonlighting Solutions in April 2009, bringing 20 years of accounting and management experience. Throughout her career Heather has held positions as Accounting Manager, Audit Director, County Auditor, Budget Analyst, Finance Director, and Controller. She has served as Treasurer and Trustee of many non-profit organizations. Heather has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and another in Information Systems Management, both from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and has been a North Carolina CPA since 1992.
Mike joined the Moonlighting Solutions team in 2016 bringing a diverse background of over a decade of healthcare and sales experience. Having held sales leadership positions in Acute Care Telemedicine, Healthcare Information Management, and Revenue Cycle, he is well versed in the unique challenges and opportunities across the healthcare continuum. The former All-American wrestler received his degree in Business Administration from the TCNJ School of Business and remains active in the NJ health and fitness community.
“Client-centric” best sums up Jenny Vyenielo’s work experience, which makes her a great addition to Moonlighting Solutions. As Vice President of Client Services, Jenny draws on her broad account management experience in healthcare to assist highly complex clients. She has deep experience developing and retaining client relationships at multiple levels within an organization. Jenny also has healthcare staffing experience in a variety of settings, both acute and non-acute.
Andrea joined the Moonlighting Solutions team in 2019, bringing more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry, primarily in the recruitment and staffing arena. As a physician recruiter from 2001-2010, Andrea placed physicians of all specialties in a variety of practice settings throughout the Eastern U.S.
In 2010, Andrea became the media relations director for a national physician recruiting firm, where she also managed public relations and communications for several sister companies, including a healthcare website, online physician community, and a clinical research firm.
From 2007-2018 Andrea contracted with About.com (currently DotDash / Verywell.com) as a freelance writer covering healthcare careers for their award-winning careers channel, in addition to her corporate role in media relations. Andrea and her reports on physician workforce issues have been cited in healthcare publications nationwide, as well as national outlets such as CNN, The New York Times, NBC News, Forbes, USA Today, and more.
