Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions by Administrators

What services do your physicians provide?

Moonlighting Solutions prides itself in providing innovative solutions to your particular call coverage problems. If you have an unusual request, ask us. We will find a solution to meet your needs.

On weeknights, our physicians provide after-hours coverage taking on-site call, admitting and consulting on patients and providing cross-cover services. On weekends, our physicians also perform rounds on inpatients, as needed. It is our goal to integrate our physicians into your practice to function just as your providers would.

In clinical settings, our physicians can be scheduled to see patients in the facility during weekdays, after-hours or on the weekends.

What specialties do you staff?

We provide physicians and MLPs (mid-level providers) to cover your primary care staffing needs. We can provide support for nearly all medical and surgical subspecialties on an inpatient or outpatient basis.

How much is this going to cost my practice or hospital?

While the rates for coverage vary as described above, much of the cost for our physicians can be recouped through billing for the services provided. Many practices have actually turned a profit by using our services to increase the daytime productivity of their physicians allowing them to see more patients and expand outreach opportunities. Reducing physician burnout has also led to decreased physician turnover and lower recruitment costs.  Our staff works with each client to identify their most pressing call coverage needs.  We can quickly provide a call coverage proposal for you to review and determine if a moonlighting program makes sense for you.

What types of facilities do you contract with?

We contract with all types of providers including:

  • Hospitals
  • Single specialty practices
  • Multi-specialty groups
  • Intensivists
  • Hospitalists firms and others.

We can also arrange shared call coverage programs to help groups obtain full coverage while splitting the cost of the program amongst various departments.

Who provides the malpractice insurance?

Moonlighting Solutions offers malpractice coverage (with tail) for all of its physicians. However, your practice or hospital has the option to provide coverage through your preferred malpractice carrier as long as a valid certificate of insurance (COI) is provided documenting the required level of coverage including extended tail coverage.

How long does it take to get started?

Once a contract is signed, it usually takes 2-3 months for privileges to be issued and have the physicians ready for onsite duty.  However, when a situation requires emergency credentialing, our physicians can start as soon as you would require coverage and your facility will allow.

How do I know if Moonlighting Solutions is right for my practice or hospital?

Moonlighting Solutions prides itself on developing individualized solutions for each call coverage problem. To see if we can provide a solution for you, please call or e-mail for a site-specific proposal. We are happy to provide references from other practices/hospitals that use our services.
